Farrah Fawcett Cancer Update

Wednesday, 20 May 2009

American film icon, Farrah Fawcett is back in the limelight after the recent airing of a moving documentary portraying the actress’s battle with cancer. “Farrah’s Story,” which aired on NBC on May 15th, was a surprisingly candid film depicting even the most painful and private moments of Fawcett’s struggle. An emotional roller coaster of tragedy and triumph, the documentary was viewed by 9 million of the famed TV star’s fans who were awaiting a Farrah cancer update since her hospitalization in April.

In the fall of 2006, Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer. She went into remission following surgery and four months of chemotherapy treatment. In the late spring of 2007, follow-up testing revealed that the cancer had returned and spread to her liver. Critically ill, Fawcett resumed treatment and began the filming of an intense moment by moment story of her life with cancer. That story has become the highest rated special in NBC history.

Fawcett is best known for her starring role as Jill Munroe in the 1970’s hit TV series, “Charlie’s Angels” and received three Emmy award nominations for her roles in TV movies. Fawcett remains bedridden on an IV at her home in Los Angeles. Though the actress is reportedly in critical condition, the filming of her poignant struggle continues with NBC planning to air a follow-up story in the near future.

  3. It took me 3 days to watch the special because it was so raw and intense. I am deeply saddened that Farrah has had to experience such pain when her will to live is so strong. I know she is only one, of far too many, who face this battle. I wish Farrah and all of you the miracles you seek. THANK YOU Farrah for sharing such a private war - you deserve a Purple Heart for honor and courage! May you find peace within to continue your fight. You are blessed with many people who truly love you and are by your side.

  4. Watching her story brings back so many horrible memories for me. My mother didn’t die from anal cancer, but colon cancer.

  9. Farrah You are a living legend. I watched your speical the first night it was aired I also recorded it because my 23 year old daughter wanted to watch it she was not home the first time it was aired. So last Thursday 5/21/09 before I was leaving to go to work she decided to watch it. I guess about 2 hours after I had got to work she called me in tears and said Mom I really really do Love you. I ask her if Farrah’s Story got to her and she said yes. Here she is 23 and she said mom life is really to short we need to live it to the fullest. And since then she has been more active, smiling alot. The story also got to me. I don’t have cancer I do have a few other problems, nothing compared to Farrah. Farrah you have opened alot of minds, hearts, even in the young. You hang in there, Our hearts, thoughts, prayer go out to you and your family. May God be with you. For Now and always

  11. Dear Farrah,
As long as I can remember, I loved your style, your hair, your fitness tips. Over the years you made a huge impression on me and when you chose to go public with your cancer you made a contribution on a worldly level to all women. Thank you for your spirit of love, your openness and kindness. You were given the gift of faith and you accepted it. May God bless you and soothe your suffering.

    Patricia

  12. Dear Farrah,

You are such an inspiration to all of us. Those with Cancer and Those without. In one of the previous post, someone said they didn’t know why God gives you such a great life and then takes it away. God has a plan for each one of us and Farrah he knew how strong your spirit was and how many people loved and adored you. He sent you, his Angel, to show others that there is more research that needs to be done on not only Anal Cancer, but all cancers. He knew you could handle it, and you have so beautifully and gracefully. Your work is done Sweet Angel of God. It is time for you to rest and I promise, God will take care of you and allow you to dip your wings softly down into the falling rain. God be with you Farrah, thank you for your courage.

    Love,
    Kathy
