Michael Douglas fighting throat cancer: Will he act again?
Oscar winning actor Michael Douglas has a walnut-sized tumor at the base of his tongue, stage 4 throat cancer. He has to get treatment that is comprised of radiation and chemotherapy five days a week. Douglas entirely faults smoking and drinking for his throat cancer. Stage 3 cancer is what is described as locally advanced, whereas stage 4 is where the cancer has spread to another part of the body.
Douglas said he was diagnosed three weeks ago and the cancer was limited to his head and neck. Doctors have told him he has an 80% chance of beating the throat cancer.
“The big thing you’re always worried about is it spreading. … I am above the neck, so nothing’s gone down, and the expectations are good,” Douglas told David Letterman.
Symptoms of throat cancer may include chronic: sore throat or lump, voice changes, bloody nose or blood in the saliva, hearing changes.
Although doctors anticipate the actor to make a complete recovery, medical experts have warned he may never act again, as the invasive combination of radiation and chemotherapy may result in him losing his voice.
Douglas’ new movie, ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,’ opens in theaters September 24 and the stars are set to promote the Oliver Stone film next Wednesday. No word yet on whether or not Michael will be there.

Please stay home and get better Mr Douglas. I’m praying for you!!
