A Healthy Diet May Reduce Chances of Breast Cancer Returning

Seattle – A balanced diet containing the right amounts of fruits and vegetables is important for all diets, but if you are a breast cancer survivor, then a diet abundant in fruits and vegetables may reduce the chances of your breast cancer returning by 33 percent.
Recent research has proven that fruits and vegetables do have an impact on estrogen levels, which is important because there is a strong link between high circulating estrogen levels and returning breast cancer.
Instead of eating the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables, researchers suggest that you eat more than that to lower estrogen levels. Additionally, a diet high in fiber and low in fat can also be beneficial.
To prove that a healthy diet may reduce chances of breast cancer returning, those that participated in this study ate 10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. The result was that many of them did not suffer from hot flashes, which is a common side effect of many breast cancer treatments.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Pyramid is a starting point for diet recommendations, but doubling the fruits and vegetables recommended is a key component to preventing breast cancer’s return. The fact is that a healthy diet may reduce chances of breast cancer returning.
