How Will Obama Tackle Health Insurance
Seattle – In the United States there are over 40 million citizens that includes 10 million children who are without health insurance. This is going to be one of the biggest troubles that soon to be official President Barrack Obama is going to have to handle when he takes office in a few weeks.
Not only do so many people in our country not have health insurance, but those who do currently have it may soon not be able to afford it as insurance premiums are continuing to rise. The fact is that the way things are with health care presently may continue to go downhill and get worse before anyone sees it get better due to the state of our economy.
President elect Obama has reached out to the citizens of our country regarding the health care system and thousands answered that call. Obama asked citizens to come together in groups and discuss what they felt needed to be done to improve the health care system in our country and to come up with some possible solutions. Obama’s transition team set up Sunday as the official date to gather all information discussed and any videos that were made and have them uploaded to their site for review.
In Ohio alone, more than 120 meetings were held and the transition team has received more then 600 reports from groups since the uploading began.
Jen Psaki, a transition team spokesperson has said that they have received an overwhelming outcry from our citizens saying that there is a need for change no matter who the person is. There has been many stories received of very sad situations regarding those who cannot afford health care.
This is not the first time that citizen input has been looked for, however last time there was hardly any medical professionals involved. This time around the medical professionals made sure to give their input. They are concerned with the fact that medical students are choosing to go to the higher paying specialties in their education because nowadays it seems that those who are in general practice are not as valued. Due to this decision rates will continue to rise in health care costs.
There are many reasons that health care is so expensive and why people cannot afford it. There are also many decisions that need to be made by President elect Obama and his transition team along with Tom Daschle, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Let us hope and pray that the right decisions are made and the health care system improves quickly for all.

With our present health care situation, why is California spending so much on health care for prison health care? This is like the tail wagging the dog. Death row inmates get better health care than most of us who work hard for a living.

I am an old guy (81yrs old) so I can speak my mind; I graduated from medical school during a different era. A time when my first home cost less than a rolex watch, during a time when a mans word meant the world.
I still own a few medical centers in America, and I tell you all don’t expect any “CPA” to give up all those “BILLIONS” they are collecting any time soon. In the health field we all know one thing when a Democrat enters office the “state program folks are all smiling!”. You see state programs are all going to be fully funded over the next 4-8 years, I can guarantee you all those med-I-Cal and state programs will be flush with cash. “Have you ever heard of the $100. bandaide? Well it does exist, and those administrators will be billing the government- (aka you the consumer!)
Here is a wake up call America- first you have the admin guys (aka the insurance corps).. basically they are suit wearing cpa’s- (similar to an actors agent- we are not sure what they do or why they exist). Most don’t employ any Doctors or own any Hospitals, they just sell (administrate) health plans to folks and then negotiate rates with doctors (who save lives)& do the work). More importantly each of these corps make Billions- and are worth more than the richest men in America Combined!!!!… (Example- I live on Lido Island in Newport Beach- my neighbor is a high school grad- who owns a administration company in Orange Ca.- don’t get me wrong he is a nice guy-basically a sales guy who sells health insurance, cobra plans and makes millions- this guy does not save lives- he sells paper)
Then we have the pharmaceutical corps. these guys are made up of lots of CPAs again and venture capitalist- in America they are even allowed to advertise new drugs to Americans (who cares if they need the drug or not)- God forbid a physician prescribe the drug, today you have patients telling Doctors what they should take! again these guys make more than the Richest guys in the World..(I have been a physician for years, and the drug reps. are pretty transparent- they just hire gals who wear short skirts and tell us to push their product. Now remember they are not doctors just young twenty something model looking girls/ guys who push drugs on us without any medical training. And the kicker is they make 100k+ income for dressing up and smiling alot (remember this costs is pushed on to the consumer).
Then we have IPAs and Hospitals- both profit driven- these are places that are now ruled by CPA’s- (you might see a trend here). So lets say I am a HMO Doctor, I will probably see 60 patients a day and I am offered bonus’s for “NOT OFFERING EXPENSIVE PROCEDURES”.. If I am a Administrator (more than likely a 40yr old MBA who worked at Deloitte and touche last year)- is now a Sr.VP of a IPA or Hospital and spends his day (most are white males) attending meetings and sending texts on his blackberry. (now-a-days he is cutting staff- I will share something I heard in a meeting recently that will blow the publics mind- I was in a meeting when one of these Sr. VP’s announced that a decision had been made to cut physician assistants and hire more nurses because of the huge costs savings- remember care has little or nothing to do with medical care). Remember these guys don’t save lives – they just know how to make more profits!!!!
So America we have CPA’s running America, don’t let your kids go to Medical school just make sure they have a MBA and go work at one of the big CPA firms (Arthur Anderson & Deloite & Touche) – these are the guys who are making your medical decisions (not doctors). In the 80′s and 90′s it was the sales guys that were in charge of all these institutions (at least those guys were fun)- these guys are really dull and de-void of emotion (they might even be computers!).
I propose we get rid of all the adminstrators- If I save your life maybe you can pay me directly.. and not pay thousands to blue cross aka administrators (to tell me how much to pay), more thousands to IPAs and Hospitals aka administrators and then more to drug companies for running ads on TV and administrators.. I go back to that $100. band-aide.. get it??
