China reports second bird flu death this month
China has reported that a second person has died from the bird during the month of January. The World Health Organization has reported that bird flu has killed approximately two hundred and forty eight people in the last six years.
The first person who died of the bird flu during the month of January was a nineteen year old woman. She had contracted the virus after she had bought and cleaned ducks in a market that was located in a province in Beijing. The second person who died of the bird flu was a twenty seven year old woman. She became ill with symptoms of the bird flu on January 5, 2009.
Other people have recently become infected with the bird flu. A two year old little girl has become ill with the bird flu. She became ill on January 7, 2009. She lives in Shanxi and is currently in critical condition. People have suspected that her mother who recently passed away also had contracted the bird flu. A sixteen year old student has also contracted the bird flu.
Usually people contract bird flu because they come into close contact with birds that are sickened by the virus.
People should take precautions to avoid becoming infected with the bird flu. You should wash your hands after you have any contact with birds. You should try to avoid as much direct contact with birds. You need to keep the birds living quarters as clean as possible.
The Chinese government is taking measures to help prevent further outbreaks. The Agriculture Ministry is going to better monitor disease outbreaks that occur. They will also make sure that birds are properly vaccinated to help prevent the spread of disease. There will be more checks in the country and at the country’s borders.
China is very afraid that the bird flu will continue to spread. Many Chinese families are getting together for Lunar New Year feasts. Approximately one hundred and eighty eight million people travel during the Lunar Year. This means that many people will become vulnerable to the illness. Poultry is usually served at these feasts and if the meat that they are eating is infected then many people will become ill. The bird flu will spread more because China is currently experiencing cold weather and temperatures.
It is important for the Chinese government to help to prevent its citizens from becoming ill due to the bird flu. It can be hard to prevent the spread of the disease because often people do not know that the birds are ill before it is too late. Hopefully, China can help to ensure that its people know what to do if they see birds that are ill so that they can reduce the instances of bird flu in the country.

How do we know we can trust the “news” coming out of China? How do we know there aren’t even more victims of bird flu?
