Count Cals To Lose Weight: Study

Seattle – A new study claims that despite the popularity of low carb diets like Atkins and low fat diets like Weight Watchers, the key to dieting is simply reducing calories not reducing the KIND of calories in your diet.
800 volunteers — mainly women — were asked to try four types of diets differing in protein, fats and carbohydrates. Each diet was followed for four weeks.
Results showed people lost about the same amount of weight, 13 pounds, no matter which they tried. All groups saw their weight creep back up after a year, with an average of 9 pounds lost by the second year.
The study also found dieters who got regular counseling saw better results.
The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine and funded by the National Institutes of Health.
About two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight, and almost one-third are obese, according to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001 to 2004.

I think meat will be the major factor and basic platform for obesity, while the meat companies, one of the special interest groups, struggle to divert the attention of general public to the calorie issue.
In my understanding, the fresh fruits can lead to healthy, peaceful mind and world, improving immune system, in contrast to the meat that will likely lead to war.
