Norad Santa Tracker Lets Kids Keep Tabs On Santa
There was a time when kids would try to listen for the sound of Santa’s reindeer on the roof. Today kids are keeping tabs on Santa in a high tech way with Norad Santa Tracker. Currently Mr. Claus is in Tajikistan and will soon be heading to Mount Everest in Nepal as he makes his way to the United States.
Kids can get permission from their parents and log onto the Norad Santa Tracker 2010 website and follow the man, whose name is derived from the Dutch legend of Sinter Klaas. Dutch settlers to New York brought stories of Santa with them to the U.S. One description of Santa’s workshop describes it as 4,000,000 square feet.
The website is interactive and tracks Santa and his eight reindeer, plus Rudolph, as he travels around the world. Visitors to the website can track Santa wherever they are in the world, since the site allows users to chose their language and location to see not only where the jolly guy is, but estimate how long it will take for him to arrive at their location. Tracking Santa may have gone high tech, but the smiles evidence of his arrival brings remain the same. ![]()
