UPDATE: Jane Fonda diagnosed with non-invasive breast cancer

Saturday, 13 Nov 2010

Jane Fonda, actress and fitness guru, has been declared 100% free of cancer following a recent scare. Representatives for Fonda, who is 72, state that a small tumor was discovered in one breast following an exam recently.

The tumor was found to be malignant, but had not yet invaded other portions of Fonda’s body. A procedure was done earlier in the week to remove the tumor. Her representative say the surgery was successful, and that Fonda is free of cancer and back to “business as usual.”

Fonda is doing so well following the procedure that she is now out and about promoting a new fitness DVD set to make it to store shelves on Nov. 30. The DVD marks the first since she re-started her Fonda Workout brand. Other titles from the line will appear on Dec. 26, featuring Tara Stiles, Jeanette Jenkins, Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson.

Fonda first became famous as an actress in the 1960s, starring in films including “Barbarella,” “Klute” and “Coming Home.” She won an Academy Award for her work in the critically acclaimed film “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?” in 1969. After starring in several titles, Fonda ventured into the world of fitness videos.

Fonda was also a well-known political activist, most notably for speaking out against American involvement in the Vietnam War. She has also been a proponent for feminist causes and Native Americans. Most recently she publicly opposed the war in Iraq, and had her name used in a disparaging manner against presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004. jane-fonda-breast-cancer-update
