Zsa Zsa Gabor hospitalized with massive blood clot

Saturday, 13 Nov 2010

Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to hospital Friday because her doctor worried that a massive blood clot in her leg could cause a heart attack.

Gabor’s left leg was “swollen like hell” and she had an infection in her right leg, her husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, said Friday evening, as his wife was being treated in the emergency room at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Gabor, 93, has been in and out of the hospital since she fell and broke her hip in July, and was so sick that in August that she asked to have the last rites read, but her condition had stabilized in recent weeks.

Gabor started her movie career in the early 1950s, she appeared in films, such as John Huston’s version of “Moulin Rouge” and Orson Welles’ “Touch of Evil.”

Blood Clots:
The clotting mechanism is one of the most important and complex of physiologic systems. When blood vessels are damaged or begin to leak, blood is able to clot to repair the damage and restore integrity to the circulatory system.
A blood clot (thrombus) in an artery generally carries more long-term risks of complications than a blood clot in a vein.

Symptoms of a blood clot may include:

New swelling in your arm or leg

Skin redness

Soreness or pain in your arm or leg

A warm spot on your legzsa-zsa-gabor-blood-clot
