Recent studies prove that eating less salt will make a big difference in your health

New York – Recent studies prove that eating less salt will make a big difference in your health. On average, Americans use between 9 and 12 grams of salt per day, with the greatest amount of salt coming from processed foods. Research shows that having too much salt in your diet can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and even stroke. Reducing your salt intake by 6 grams a day could have a big impact on these health problems that many Americans face.

Using a computer simulation called the Coronary Heart Disease Policy Model, researchers can estimate the impact of the reduction in salt intake, and the benefits that eating less salt would have in your health pertaining to Cardiovascular Disease. The simulation shows that for every 6 grams of salt that is removed from the diet per person, per day, heart disease could be reduced by 1.4 million.

We do need a certain amount of salt in our diet to maintain a healthy balance, but eating less salt will make a big difference in your health. Health organizations suggest that 5 to 6 grams of salt per day is a sufficient amount to achieve this balance.
